About Annie

Based on the popular comic strip, Annie tells the extraordinary story of a little orphan who ends up in the lap of luxury with Depression-era billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Unlike most of the other children at Miss Hannigan's orphanage, feisty Annie believes that her parents are still alive and will one day return to claim her. So when Mr. Warbucks offers to adopt her, she asks the most powerful man in America to help find her real mom and dad instead, and he agrees. Warbucks' substantial reward for Annie's parents attracts the attention of con artists Rooster, Lily and the wicked Miss Hannigan, who hatch a plot to kidnap Annie and take the $50,000 reward. But don't fret: This classic family musical has a happy ending for Annie, Daddy Warbucks and the whole gang. Featuring well know numbers such as ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Maybe’ and ‘Hard Knock Life’.

Our Annie

ABOP are pleased to announce auditions for the Winter/Spring  Junior Company Production, Annie Jr. where young people will work alongside our professional Creative Team from January to April 2017.

Who are we looking for?
Boys and Girls who love to perform aged 7-13 years old. We are looking for young people to play the roles of Annie, her orphan friends and many of the supporting characters, including some great parts for the boys! If you’ve got what it takes, get in touch now!  We look forward to auditioning children who have numerous performance experiences, have limited experience perhaps simply from school or are completely new to drama.
Current students please complete an auditon form and speak to your teacher with regards to your choice of role.

Those wishing to audition, must register via this website. Once we have received your child's application we will send you information regarding the audition day and what you will need to bring along.

The CompanyAudition

All: January 8th 9am-12 noon. Soloists interested in the role of Annie please remain until 1pm. Please contact us if you cannot make this date.

Don’t worry if your child has never auditioned before, we will make the whole experience fun and put them at ease, it will simply be a class, our staff have lots of experience with young people. There will also be a number of our admin team on hand to answer any questions so please feel free to remain onsite for the entire session if you are at all worried. If you have older children who are used to attending auditions and are happy to be left, or children who settle easily we ask that you remain for the first 10 minutes of the audition in case yo are needed and then you will be free to depart. Children will be taught a basic dance routine as well as a song. Children will also participate in a group acting workshop. The is nothing to be afraid of.

Those wishing to audition for the role of Annie will be expected to sing a solo at some point in the class, but again this will be fun enabling your child to remain at ease.

There is no fee payable to audition for the company.

At the Recall
We may need to see your child for a second audition, especially if they are auditioning for the leading role of Annie. You will be advised if this is necessary. After the recall we will then offer those successful a place in the show.

At The Rehearsals

If your child is selected to join the cast of Annie , they will rehearse here at Shaftesbury Arts Centre or the Trinity, Shaftesbury. The latter is a five minutes walk from the Arts Centre. The rehearsal schedule will be sent to you via email and your child will receive their script file at the first rehearsal.  We regret that once committed to the show we will be unable to allow any absence during this time. All rehearsals are on Sundays apart from the Technical and Dress Rehearsal which take place on the Wednesday of performance week. Dates and timings of rehearsals may on occasions vary slightly according to the participant’s role in the production, but you will be advised if times need to change a little. e.g. if  child is struggling then additional times can be arranged to go over work and ease any anxiety. Children are always happiest if they are well prepared.

If your child is interested in performing and there are current date conflicts please email the office with details to enable us to discuss this with you. We will try to help where we can.  office@anythingbutordinary-productions.com

Children will not be released to anyone other than parents unless otherwise notified in writing, in advance.

Techincal & Dress Rehearsals

To enable each and every cast member to perform on stage, all participants must attend the technical and dress rehearsals. Children not attending will be unable to perform.

Friday 31st March 6.30pm & Saturday 1st April 2pm & 6.30pm.

Full Company £150
Fees are payable in full, in advance using our secure online payment service. Once you have been offered  a place fees will need to be settled to secure your place.
